Jerry Uelsmann and Maggie Taylor have made distinguished careers out of manipulating images: he's an old-school darkroom guy, while she's embraced the computer. For this challenge, they provided ten images for you to remix into an original composition.
It's a leaf head with a butterfly bowtie. or a leaf balloon.

Sally spent a year touring Europe after finishing school. Her favorite country was Spain and she bought a guitar. Her friends mocked her attachment to the instrument, but she insisted on having her picture taken with it.

The Andalusian Crow? An homage to Jerry Uelsmann with a nod to Salvadore Dali. I don't pretend to know what this is all about!

Started with a head base and let the dream drive the rest of the elements.

Inspired by the old imagery in Audubon Guide books, the outdoors, wildlife, landscape and a bit of surrealism, I have been creating montages in photoshop with landscapes and plastic replica wildlife.
*sunset* miniature plastic deer, shot on location and then montaged into landscape in photoshop.

I knew Jerry in the early days of his career.
Sketch is mine and butterfly is STUDIO360’s.

A slightly more colorful version of my first submission. I used Fireworks, layering two slightly offset forest images with the clouds from the butterfly image mixed with a special color gradient field and using various bit filters between layers. Some cropping was involved.

Thank you:
First off, I would just like to thank Jerry Uelsmann-he is the reason I learned Photoshop (even though I understand he doesn't use Photoshop himself). I discovered his work in a 12-month calendar while I was in high school (over a decade ago) and was hooked. I am now working as a "photographer"- although I have recently begun to realize that I actually enjoy the artistry of digital composition more than the photographic process itself...So thanks both to Jerry and Studio 360 for bringing this to my attention. I look forward to learning more about Maggie's work as well.
About the image:
Originally I intended to use the character in this image to create a feeling of empowerment for young women undergoing chemotherapy: This photo was one of many that I created while coming up with an album design for the band Florence + The Machine. I ended up using a different image for the final album (which was auctioned-off to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust) so I am happy to resurrect this design in a completely different context.
Originally this character in this image was inspired by Klimt's "Pallas Athene", however, with the addition of the statue-head inside the helmet, I am reminded of another work by Klimt: "Judith I, in which Judith holds up the head of Holofernes.
I'm not sure how I feel about this image yet. What do you think? At the moment I'm thinking it lies somewhere between a poster for a "renaissance super-hero" and the expression "the calm before the storm."

i like the simplicity of the leaves and the personality in their shapes.

The base image I used is part of a series I am currently working on. Thought it would fit the elements provided by you. I wanted to see if I could come up with something interesting to enhance the title of the image, A Tranquil Place.

My image is called Crow Play.
One marble head tells the other,
"See what my Crow can do."
