Jerry Uelsmann and Maggie Taylor have made distinguished careers out of manipulating images: he's an old-school darkroom guy, while she's embraced the computer. For this challenge, they provided ten images for you to remix into an original composition.
Right after I downloaded your images I saw that these two pictures were a good fit. I like the more surrealistische style :-)

"Reflections" explores queries regarding timeless vs ephemeral beauty and takes a more relaxed view of art, with room for whimsy.

These elements seemed to fit together just right.

I'm someone who cooks with leftovers.* The 'Iron Chef' aspect of the challenge pulled me in, using three ingredients from your pantry.

*The leftovers in this case date from the quattrocento.

Just few of the images provided for the competition. I have in mind those children book I grew up with, that had frames and images in the corners. This one is not really children oriented.

As much as I use Photoshop on a daily basis this is the first attempt of using it to produce a piece of fine art. I have painted trompe l'oeil but this is the first attempt to build one in Photoshop.

This is a another version of the composition where I tried to go for an older look. Even though I enjoy the other version more, this one has some good qualities.

This is an image I did as a sequel to my earlier Classic Love Story. This one focuses more on the relation of love and obsession.

Mama Pacha (Incan goddess for Mother Earth).
What can I say?...the images just came together (Mama Pacha at work?)
Thanks for the fun opportunity, love 360 Kurt!!!

I've combined the woman sitting, the black bird and the mountain sky. I added vines from my own source. Each image was a layer and they all got different treatment to make them a similar vibe. The image was flattened and that too was coated with a certain touch. Working from a purely aesthetic place, although meaning may ave seeped in unintentionally.

Even before I saw the images, just listening to your radio show and seeing with my mind's eye, I envisioned a man's face through the gossamer transparency of of the butterfly wings. That was my starting point for this composition. The rest unfolded from there

I try and maintain a style of clean and simple yet powerful images that are able to connect with the viewer quickly and hold them in for as long as they are willing. I am currently a college student currently minoring in photography at the University of North Florida, one of the professors I am taking this semester had Jerry Uelsmann back in the day and we just went over him in our History of Photography class!

Masquerade. I've been making full color artwork in Photoshop and other programs since 1995, and before that was manipulating BW images in the darkroom. Intuition hides secondary and tertiary meanings in the subtle overlays, surprising even me as the artist sometimes. Enjoyed the challenge!

I wanted to approach this project with only the images provided. I also wanted to use at least 3 of the pictures, while not making it obvious how they are being used. I started by creating a blue iridescence on the black bird by overlaying the butterfly wing. This is very subtle in the finished image, but I feel it is worth it. The overlay of the bird in the hand is less subtle but I fell like it works. The applied lighting helps to punch the shadow, and the mosaic break-up was to pull the image even further from reality.
