ThisAmericanLife: Themed, offbeat, (mostly) true stories that shed new light on the extraordinary side of everyday life. Host Ira Glass and a regular cast of personalities, including David Sedaris, Sarah Vowell and Mike Birbiglia, bring the best of nonfiction storytelling to the radio. 

This New Sounds program presents music from the Near East, including works from Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Israel. Bassist Jim Guttmann, (anchor man in the Klezmer Conservatory Band,) leads his own ensemble which branches out intriguingly into jazz, funk, and world music. From Guttmann’s brand new recording “Bessarabian Breakdown,” we’ll hear a traditional Sephardic melody “Cuando el Rey Nimrod.”
