I was out on Long Island visiting my mom, and when she dropped me off at the LIRR station, I walked up the stairs to find sunlight flooding the platform. I like it when banal, everyday locations are transformed into an urban equivalent of a beautiful landscape by a time of day. I also spent the first decade of my life on Long Island, so I get nostalgic when I visit, and this lighting enhanced that feeling.

Union Square Farmer's Market Nov 1...Day of The Dead. I took this photo because these two vendor's had gone to the trouble of getting made up to be in the "spirit" of the day. I like this photo because it is so "New York".

A photo taken in late summer 2013 at Riis Park. I was interested in the frozen clock. I felt it was a nice metaphor for those lost summer days. I wanted the clock to be dead center in the shot. An ice cream truck pulled up and people began to gather. I liked the colors of their clothes, and the body language of a waiting group. Meanwhile on the left side of the composition a lone bike rider in yellow passes by.

This picture was taken on November 9th in Central Park at Conservatory Pond. I liked the Fall colors and the reflections in the pond. I also like this picture as much upside down as I do as it was taken due to the reflections. It was a beautiful day in the Park!

Seeing this photo re: Obama & Volker embracing after the Dodd-Frank Act of 2010 was signed Ginger Rogers dancing "The Carioca" (1933). So I took a photo of the newspaper photo and a photo of Fred & Ginger dancing the Carioca and wrote the Caption: "Paul !You're LEADING again !!"

Where: Bryant Park
Why: I was early for a meeting at a consultant's office in midtown and had time to kill, so I met up with a friend who works around that area. It was the day of The Mid-Autumn Festival so she gave me a mooncake as a gift. It was a sweet gesture and something worth remembering so as I walked by Bryant Park, I took the mooncake out and snapped a photo of it.

I like this photo for its bokeh effect and how it was carefully set up with the right angle and natural lighting. But above all, I like it for its relevance to the day it was taken and the fact that it can provoke my memories and feelings for that day.

I took this photo in October from a rooftop wedding on 33rd St. The combination of the wind, fog, and the new LED lights on the Empire State Building created an image fitting for NYC: a monumental burning mechanical candle.

This was taken in Owl's Head Park, Bay Ridge Brooklyn after the first snow of the year using the Hipstomatic app for the iPhone. I am amazed at how much this looks like someplace far away in the mountainss but is actually Brooklyn!

I was lucky enough to stay on the 50th floor of the Miliennium Hotel for a work project this past September. As the sun started to set, I turned off all the lights in my room and started shooting the 9/11 Memorial. As the sun set, I was able to capture this amazing shot of the site.

I took this while walking along a lake in Hanoi last March. I loved the fog and the dramatic contrast it created.

This was taken in Prospect Heights while walking with my 4 month old. The juxtaposition between my daughter chilling out in her stroller next to the faux tagger just kind of cracked me up. Baby pictures don't have to be so precious, you know?

I took this photo while on a ski trip with my friend in Vermont. I took this photo because I love how the red house stood out in the surrounding white snow. My favorite thing about this picture is how when you look at it your eye immediately goes to the red and then you start to see the details. Thank you so much! happy holidays!

There are so many things I like about this picture - first of all, it's a cat. Who doesn't love cats? Everyone loves cats. Second of all, it's a cat next to a bushel of crabs. Who doesn't love crabs? You know who really loves crabs? Cats. Thirdly, I love the disembodied hand coming in from the right that's scratching the cat's chin. I really like how someone brought the cat some milk. You know the saying "Happier than a pig in shit"? Well there should be another saying - "Happier than a cat in a fish market".

Our best friends just adopted a new puppy (Derby) we were out on their deck enjoying some cocktails when Derby took a seat in their child's mini lawn chair.

He is well over 60 lbs now - only 4 months later and still growing!

Lefkada, Greece. I love how at first you don't notice that there's people in the photo, but once you do you really register the boulder size and how gorgeous it must be to sunbathe on there.

This was a rare moment when I actually had my iphone camera ready to go. We were walking along a lake in central Hanoi last March when I saw the couple both look to their left for just a moment. It was cold and the fog created these beautiful silhouettes, like a living Karen Walker piece.
