Introducing The Other Box Project

The Brian Lehrer Show | Jun 9, 2017

Jami Floyd, the host of WNYC's All Things Considered, introduces a year-long project called The Other Box Project that explores issues facing mixed race families. Fifty years ago on June 12, 1967, the U.S. Supreme Court case Loving v. Virginia declared laws criminalizing interracial marriage unconstitutional, clearing the way for couples to marry and start families regardless of race. On the anniversary of the case, the project will look at what it means to check the "other" box on the census in today's society through public conversations, film, and exhibitions.

EVENT: The Other Box Project on Love, Race and Identity: 1967-2017, at The Greene Space on Monday, June 12 at 7pm. More info here.
