Jessica Siegel is a freelance writer in New York City focusing on education and the arts. Now an assistant professor of journalism and education at Brooklyn College, she taught in the city's public schools for 12 years. She was the subject of Samuel G. Freedman's outstanding work of non-fiction, "Small Victories" (HarperCollins, 1990).
