Wednesday, February 12, 2014 - 02:15 PM

On the Brian Lehrer Show, we spoke with Jessica Bennett of Lean In about their efforts to update "stock photos" of women. We asked you to submit photos that represent modern women of all types, using the hashtag #NotYourStockWoman. Below are some of our favorites. Be sure to check out the full range of fantastic photos on Instagram and Twitter. And keep them coming - we'll update as we get more!

Listen to Jessica Bennett discuss the project below.

I applaud the effort of advertisers and others in parroting the fabulous change we see all around us for women. Obviously, there's work to be done by society as we march on in the effort. However, laying some claim to the idea by Getty or any one organization is bogus. I'm a contributing photographer to one devision of Getty and to other places as well where the theme of women in power long ago took root. Everyone needs to ride their personal wave; I'm simply stating that many deserve credit for the sea change.

Where is the discussion about $$$?? Are they using more female photogs? Do Twitter posters make any money from the digital distribution right now. Don't jump in bed with corps too soon. This is just a promo
