A dispute over school bus assignments has sparked a racial, economic and class debate in Wake County, N.C. Back in 2000, the district adopted a policy to bus students to outside neighborhoods based on the students' socio-economic backgrounds. But, last night, the school board abandoned the policy.

In their attempts to integrate their school system, the Wake County school adopted a policy in 2000 to bus students based on their socio-economic backgrounds to outside neighborhoods to achieve diversity. If you live in a poor neighborhood, your kids could be bussed to a wealthier one.  And vice-versa.
