Burd Family Farm
near New Paltz
6 Feet
$40-50
Tree cut live on a Christmas tree farm in Ulster Dounty. It is beautiful, it was a fun family activity, and they plant 5 new trees for evey one cut down. Tree hasn't lost any needles and continues to slurp up our good NYC water (which also comes from the Catskills!) And i5 will be mulched and will go into our NYC community garden. Lucky us!

For a full, 7 1/2 foot tree at $50 plus tax, I feel this is a good deal. Happy to support the local hardware store at our subway / Newkirk Plaza in Ditmis Park.
Jones Family Farms
606 Walnut Tree Hill Rd, Shelton, CT 06484
More than 10 Feet (Showoff!)
$60-70
We cut our own trees every year-- that's been a tradition since I grew up on a farm. We get two trees every year, an 8 footer for the kitchen and a 14 footer for the living room. Jones Tree Farm charges $65 for cut your own trees, no matter how large or small-- so it's a great deal. And you get a tree that stays fresh for weeks as long as you water them twice a day.

I do, although the trees at wal-mart next door were cheaper
Home Depot
Home Depot in Bedford STuy Brooklyn
5 Feet
$20-30
Absolutely. I bought it at Home Depot. Strangely, this has become a family tradition. My wife and two boys (3,5) drive to the Bed Stuy HD where a portion of the lot is closed off to trees. We pick one and have a HD worker cut the bottom of the tree off so it may absorb water better. Good deal for a sort of gangly ugly but ready to go tree.
Whole Foods
808 Columbus Ave, New York, NY 10025
6 Feet
$30-40
Seemed like a fair price but unlike some places, WF didn't chop off the end and the tree isn't drinking as much water as it should. Or maybe its just not one of those thirsty trees.
Stand
5th ave & Sterling, Brooklyn
10 Feet
$90-100
I think its a lot, but it's Park Slope. Last year in NJ we had a tree cut for us. It was ten feet and cost $60.00.
So it is a rip off but you don't really have a choice.
Home Depot
outside Holland Tunnel
4 Feet
$20-30
Our Fresh cut, 4 foot tree cost $19.66 with tax from the Home Depot, in Jersey City. The same size tree from a local "stand" in Hoboken (where we live)starts at $50 to $60 dollars. Donate the difference to your local homeless shelter!
