Tickets: $35 on Fri., Jan. 18, Performances begin at 7:30PM
Tickets:$55 on Sat., Jan. 19, Performances begin at 6PM.

The band called Mames Babagenush comes from Denmark, but they play klezmer music – the infectious dance tunes and mournful laments of the Jews of Eastern Europe. They are part of a dizzying array of bands playing in the annual Golden Festival this weekend, inspired by the brass band festivals of the Balkans but featuring music from Armenia, Norway, Egypt, and lots of Balkan music. Mames Babagenush is just one of the bands taking part in the Saturday Jan. 18th marathon lineup at the annual Zlatne Uste Golden Festival. However, it all begins on Friday night, Jan. 17, bringing music, food and dance from the Balkans to Brooklyn’s Grand Prospect Hall.
