Friday, 1/16: 7:00 pm – 12:30 am $30-$50.
Saturday, 1/17: 5:30 pm – 2:00 am $59-$79

This weekend marks the 40th annual Golden Festival, a two-day celebration of Balkan folk music and dance. Founded by the New York band Zlatne Uste, who still headline each year’s event, the Golden Festival takes over the Marquee Astoria’s many rooms, filling them with food, folk dance lessons, and music from Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece and beyond. The Jan. 17th lineup includes the New Jersey-based Albanian musicians Merita Halili and Raif Hyseni, along with many brass bands (Novi Hitovi Brass Band, Raya Brass Band, Slavic Soul Party) choirs, kaba gaida, klezmer, lyra, and so much more. The festival runs from Jan. 16-17 at the Marquee Astoria. (Get your circle dancing on!)
