Ghanaian-American author Yaa Gyasi joins us to discuss her novel Homegoing which traces 300 hundred years of history in Ghana and the United States through the story of two half-sisters, Effia and Esi and their descendants. Some remain in Ghana and live through centuries of colonization, while others are kidnapped and shipped to America as part of the slave trade.

Events: Yaa Gyasi will be in conversation with Tracy K. Smith at the Brooklyn Public Library (10 Grand Army Plaza), in partnership with Community Bookstore, and co-sponsored by Well-Read Black Girl on Monday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m.

She'll also be at the Upper West Side Barnes & Noble (2289 Broadway between 82nd and 83rd Streets) in conversation with Jordan Pavlin on Tuesday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m.
