When You Misremembered Something
We still don't know exactly why NBC News anchor Brian Williams has been falsely re-telling a story about getting shot down in a helicopter in 2003 in Iraq. "I would not have chosen to make this mistake. I don't know what screwed up in my mind that caused me to conflate one aircraft with another," he said in an apology.
But Williams' story made us wonder: have you ever discovered you were wrong about a story you've told? Have you told an anecdote over and over again, and later discovered you had misremembered crucial details? Or that it even happened to somebody else? Tell us about your misremembered stories!
