The Honest Truth About Lies

The Leonard Lopate Show | Dec 3, 2015

Lying is a part of human nature, and there are many different types of lies -- from white lies, to plagiarism, to headline-making financial fraud. But as behavioral scientist and bestselling author Dan Ariely shows in his documentary, "(Dis)Honesty – The Truth About Lies," humans often manage to justify their reasons for not telling the truth, even when they know what they're doing is wrong. On this edition of Please Explain, Ariely answers all your questions about the psychology, neurology and the potential rippling effects of even the smallest of fibs.
