A Kidnapping In Syria - From The Inside

The Leonard Lopate Show | Oct 18, 2017

Photojournalist Jonathan Alpeyrie joins us to discuss his book The Shattered Lens: A War Photographer's True Story of Captivity and Survival in Syria. For 10 years, the French‑American photojournalist worked in war zones. But during his third assignment to Syria in 2013, his fixer betrayed him and handed him over to Syrian rebels. For 81 days he was bound, blindfolded and beaten. Alpeyrie details how he survived his kidnapping and worked to see the humanity of his kidnappers.
