What Happens Next: The Future of Work

The Retro Report documentary team and Quartz released their second short documentary in their new series, called "What Happens Next." The series explores how technology will change lives around the world, and today we turn our attention to "The Future of Work." 

The mini-documentary shows how new automated technologies, like artificial intelligence and machinery, are making jobs safer, but also eliminating jobs in the process. The film predicts that almost half of jobs will be eliminated over the next two decades completely transforming the workforce, economy and way of life. 

Clive Thompson, a journalist who covers technology for Smithsonian Magazine, Wired and TheNew York Times Magazine, is featured in the new doc. He joins us on The Takeaway to discuss the future of work.
