Warren Jeffs' Tyrannical, Abusive Mormon Church

Director Amy Berg discusses her new documentary, "Prophet’s Prey," along with Sam Brower, a private investigator featured in the film. The film focuses on the Fundamentalist Church of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS), a polygamous, unsanctioned offshoot of the Mormon Church run by the tyrannical, self-proclaimed prophet, Warren Jeffs. Berg collaborated with Brower and author Jon Krakauer (Into Thin Air), who happened upon this eerie subculture in 1999. The film is an exhaustive exploration of this secretive religious community, especially into the child abuses that contributed to Jeffs' apprehension and eventual conviction.

Opens September 18th at the IFC Center.
