The Fulton Center Oculus And More Underground Art

The Brian Lehrer Show | Nov 10, 2014

The Fulton Center transit hub is open to commuters today, and it features an oculus that pulls natural light down into the subway station. We'll hear about the design feature and how it fits into the MTA's public art landscape with Sandra Bloodworth, director of MTA Arts & Design. She is now co-author (with William Ayres), of New York's Underground Art Museum: MTA Arts and Design (The Monacelli Press, 2014), which features the "Sky Reflector-Net", as the oculus is known, on the cover. Plus: she shares some of the images in her new book from the MTA's collection of 250 artworks throughout the transit system. What's your favorite?
