Drummer and bandleader Ulysses Owens Jr. has played with jazz luminaries like Christian McBride and Kurt Elling, but he also leads a big band. That group plays richly orchestrated versions of works by people like John Coltrane and Terence Blanchard, but – Owens has also been performing big band arrangements of songs by Nirvana. Drummer Ulysses Owens Jr. and his big band play a four night residency from Dec. 4-7 at Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center.
