Written by Warren Peck and Bill Di Morrow, All Around the Town is "designed to familiarize our listeners with a few of New York City's historical, education and otherwise interesting high spots." This episode takes the listener to Fraunces Tavern.
The hosts, Ross Michant and Paul Talbot, are introducing the listening audience to Fraunces Tavern when they are interrupted by a bumbling new guy, Aaron, regarding an urgent call. The director bursts in and orders them all to continue the show over at Fraunces Tavern.
A tavern keeper dressed in colonial attire reserves a table in the dining hall for the two gentlemen. Ross and Paul venture up to the second floor where they encounter the room where George Washington met with his generals and other artifacts. Back in the dining room, Aaron discusses the colonial decor and a few more facts about the use of the building.
As they head back to the station, Aaron remembers that he left someone on the telephone, a Mr. Morris Novik, the director of WNYC.
The announcer offers an Around New York booklet containing "all the leading museums, art showings and historic houses and many other points of interest" to listeners who send a self-addressed and stamped envelope.
