Torres Heads To Congress As Country's First Afro-Latino Representative

As 2020 comes to an end, we're revisiting some of the New Yorkers we reported on earlier in the year. That includes outgoing City Council member Ritchie Torres, who successfully ran for Congress during a pandemic while battling Covid-19 personally. WNYC's Brigid Bergin sat down with him, virtually, to reflect on his time in the Council and his hope for his South Bronx congressional district. Torres says he never imagined he'd go from a City Council intern to a member of Congress in less than a decade.
