The Paulist Choristers are led by Father Joseph R. Foley. They perform Oh Glorioso Virginum by Felix Borofsky. It is one of Borosky's few "essays" in church music and was written around 1930. This is followed by Leo Sowerby's Tu Es Vos Electiones written in 1940; Mehe Altum Nimis. By Herman Hans Wexler.; Oh Softly Singing Lute and Winter and Spring by Felix Borofsky. Joseph Fuchs, violin and Leo Smidt, piano perform works by Arthur Berger and Aaron Copland. Fuchs is a well-known American violinist who had just returned from a concert tour. Smidt makes his second appearance at the 11th American Music Festival. They first perform the Duo for Violin and Piano by Arthur Berger. They follow with Aaron Copland's Violin Sonata. The New York Woodwind Quintet is composed of: Ralph Gunberg, oboe; Wallace Shapiro, clarinet; Bernard Garfield, bassoon; Samuel Barron, flute; and Raymond Alonge, french horn. The Quintet performs The Pastoral by Vincent Persichetti. This is followed by a first performance of A March for Woodwinds by William Presser. And Paul Hindemith's Kleiner kommermusik opus 24 #2. The Liebling Singers under the direction of Estelle Liebling. They include Susan Yeager, Beverly Sills, (before she made it to the NYC Opera) Evelyn Corvello, Emily Colter and Alfredo Luitsi. Holiday Song by William Shuman; Wheel Through the Woods by Charles Tomlinson Griffes; The Touch of Your Hand by Jerome Kern and highlights from Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin.
