Thomas A. Edison

The NYPR Archive Collections | Jan 1, 2000

Anniversary of the birth of the father of the phonograph, Thomas Edison, who collected material from before 1890. The quality is poor. Trumpeter Lansing from the Charge of the Light Brigade sounds his trumpet in 1890 as he did on 10/25/1854. Tony Schwartz makes a "then and now" sound quality comparison of "Mary had a Little Lamb..." and Mr. Edison recites the famous poem in New Jersey, 1927. 4:45
