How The Federal Government Can Help NY; Doctor's Advice; Nursing Homes in Crisis; Your New Weekend Routines
Coming up on today's show:
-
Tom Suozzi, U.S. Representative for NY's 3rd District, an area that includes parts of Long Island and Queens, NY, and member of the House Committee on Ways and Means, talks about his efforts to advocate that the New York State Government, New York State Hospitals and New York State Local Governments require special attention as part of the federal response to Coronavirus.
-
As COVID-19 patients crowd into hospitals, doctors are reporting very few patients are coming in for the usual crises - heart attacks, strokes and other emergencies. Dr. Harlan Krumholz, professor of medicine at Yale and director of the Yale New Haven Hospital Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation, says hospitals are ready to treat people for non-COVID emergencies, and urges patients to still seek medical care when they need it.
-
Richard J. Mollot, executive director of the Long Term Care Community Coalition, talks about the COVID-19 crisis that's hitting nursing homes with particular force and what tools remain to protect residents, staff and their families.
- With many people stuck at home in isolation seven days a week, listeners call in to share their new weekend routines in the age of COVID-19.
