Take a Tour of New York's Long History of Reproductive Rights

WNYC News | Oct 3, 2019

A tour of Lower Manhattan is spotlighting some notable sites you don't always see in the history books.

The Reproductive Freedom Walking Tour, hosted by Social Justice Tours, is shedding a light on New York City's long history in the struggle for reproductive justice.

Led by journalist and playwright Cindy Cooper, the two-hour-long tour spans from City Hall to Washington Square Park and covers over 200 years of reproductive history, from the Comstock laws in the late 19th century to the first-ever abortion speakout at the former Washington Square United Methodist Church in 1969.

WNYC's Alejandra Salazar went on the tour and reports.
