Sven Ratzke: Where Are We Now at La MaMa

The Dutch/German cabaret singer Sven Ratzke made a name for himself as Hedwig in a European production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. He conquered the Edinburgh Fringe Festival back in 2016 with Starman, a tribute to David Bowie. Now he’s presenting a new program called Where Are We Now, which takes songs from throughout Bowie’s career and pares them down to just voice and piano. The effect can be quite haunting, as in this version of the late Bowie song called “Where Are We Now?” Sven Ratzke performs Bowie’s songs in an intimate piano and voice setting every night at La Mama through December 21.
