Journalist Ron Shinkman, a regular contributor to the New England Journal of Medicine’s online publication Catalyst, joins us to discuss the state of dialysis care in America. He looks at why Medicare pays roughly $34 billion annually to cover dialysis, yet outcomes for patients lag behind other countries. He’ll also explore why two for-profit companies now control 70 percent of the U.S. market.
