South Orange mayor pens an "excuse note" for her town after summer of NJ Transit delays

WNYC News | Jul 29, 2024

Heat, among other issues, has caused day after day of late trains and cancellations across New Jersey Transit.

The waits have been long enough that one local mayor has took matters into her own hands. Sheena Collum is the mayor of South Orange, New Jersey. She recently penned an open letter that was an "excuse note" of sorts addressed to employers across the region, as more and more riders reckon with unreliable trains.

Mayor Collum joined WNYC's Michael Hill to talk about her decision.
