A Snake Charmer's Memoir on Defying Fear and Death

Midday on WNYC | Apr 23, 2018

Tessa Fontaine discusses her memoir The Electric Woman: A Memoir in Death-Defying Acts. She tells the story of being on the road with her adventurous and spirited mother, traveling as an act with the last American sideshow. Fontaine recalls becoming a carnival snake charmer and a high-voltage version of Electra. She also details how she trained her body to ignore fear and learned how to keep her heart open in the face of loss.

This segment is guest hosted by DW Gibson.
