São Paulo Symphony Orchestra The Amazon Concert: Sights and Sounds of Brazil
At Carnegie Hall
Oct. 15. $18+up. 8PM.

The Amazon rainforest contains species found nowhere else; it’s a home to some of the last uncontacted peoples on Earth; and, as we now know, it can pull climate-changing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. It’s also been a reliable inspiration for composers for over a century, mostly Brazilians but not all. There's a piece by Philip Glass, which is part of a series of works named after the different rivers in the Amazon. Brazil’s Sao Paolo Symphony Orchestra and American conductor Marin Alsop present an orchestral version of this piece as part of their Concert For The Amazon. Saturday night, Oct. 15, at Carnegie Hall.
