Santiago Leibson Trio at Barbès
Nov. 26. 7PM. $20 suggested donation

The pianist Santiago Leibson is from Argentina, though he’s now based in Brooklyn. He’s been interested in the various ways the standard jazz piano trio has evolved over the years, from the lyricism of Bill Evans to the rock energy of groups like The Bad Plus. For Liebson, this means incorporating influences from tango, classical music, rock, and Argentine folk traditions into his pieces for piano, bass and drums. He’s got a new album due next week, called Prohibido Andar en Sulky, which will include this track, “Acantilados,” or “cliffs.” The Santiago Leibson Trio plays at Barbès in Brooklyn on Nov. 26
