S. Raekwon, born Steven Raekwon Reynolds, is a singer/songwriter and producer from New York City by way of Buffalo, NY. His debut album just came out in October and it’s centered on Raekwon’s voice and guitar playing, but he’s also a producer with a deft touch and his album, Where I’m At Now, offers simple love songs with a danceable pop sheen as well as anxious questions about race and identity, with a sometimes unexpected touch of musical theater. S. Raekwon performs Tuesday, Dec. 7 at Trans-Pecos in Queens.
