The Story Behind 'Film,' Samuel Beckett's Collaboration with Buster Keaton

The Leonard Lopate Show | Mar 25, 2016

In 1964, playwright Samuel Beckett collaborated with silent-film actor Buster Keaton and cinematographer Boris Kaufman to produce a short, avant-garde, titleless film project. Director Ross Lipman joins us to discuss "Notfilm: A Documentary on the Making of "Film" by Samuel Beckett," a feature-length movie on the production of “Film" which uses outtakes, never before heard audio recordings of production meetings and other rare archival elements.

"Notfilm" opens Friday, April 1st at Anthology Film Archive (32 2nd Avenue).
