Rokia Koné – Kurunba (Weekly Music Roundup)

Malian singer Rokia Koné has been nicknamed "The Rose of Bamako." A familiar voice in West African music, she’s just now preparing to release her first full album, and her new single, “Kurunba,” is a song that calls out a culture that leaves women behind when they’ve finished the work of raising their children. Koné’s energetic vocals are matched by some equally kinetic drumming – featuring a seamless blend of traditional West African and modern programmed percussion. "Kurunba," by Rokia Koné is part of our Weekly Music Roundup.
