As Roads Clear Of Traffic, Speeding Increases

WNYC News | Apr 7, 2020

Among the wailing of sirens on city streets, there’s another sound breaking the silence: loud and fast cars.

One of the most egregious examples was on Tuesday morning, at 7:30 a.m., when an extremely rare blue Porsche raced through midtown before careening out of control and smashing into several parked cars.

Harry Shasho, owner of 212 Motoring, an autoshop for high speed cars located off the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn says it's crazy near his shop, too.

“You see cars flying, motorcycles, loud exhausts, BMWs, Mustangs, just guys going to town,” he said.

And the numbers show it: speed zone cameras issued twice as many tickets to drivers in March compared to January this year.
