Richard Tucker

The NYPR Archive Collections | Jan 1, 2000

Tucker outlines what he has been doing recently in New York at the Met and Chicago Lyric Opera and on tour with the Met. The current season's work planned for both cities.

He talks about singing on television. Upcoming roles at the Met this season. May get back into Der Fladermaus. No new roles this year.

He is looking forward to performing at the opening of the new Lincoln Center. Sorry Mrs. and President Kennedy won't be able to be there. Bad PR move on their parts. He will be doing Mahler's 8th Symphony in Latin. It will be televised by CBS. "Perhaps it will go over Telstar." Tucker will be in Washington, D.C. on November 29th with the opening of the new cultural center there.

Concerts in New York? Perhaps Carnegie Hall or Hunter College. Loves to sing recitals.

New song by John Jacob Niles written for him will be performed this year.

Talks about singing comedy roles and how he loves doing them. Helps him diversify.
