Revel Claims City Is Blocking Its Push to Put Tesla Taxis on Streets

As COVID restrictions continue to lift and New Yorkers are going out again, the demand for taxis is increasing. Riders have recently complained about surge pricing on trips. And data from the city show about half the number of taxis are on the road, compared to pre-pandemic levels. WNYC’s transportation reporter Stephen Nessen reports that Revel, the scooter sharing company, is trying to get into the for-hire vehicle market with all electric Teslas. But its prospects look dim.
