Reefer, Managed: Parents and Pot
With the first week of our "Reefer, Managed" series concluded we open up the phones to parents: How do you talk to your teens about cannabis compared to how you talk about alcohol?
i am parent of 2 teens. @BrianLehrer i am less worried about marijuana than alcohol. Kids are smart and understand dangers. When pot is legal, crime related to purchasing will disappear, legal pot places will curate experience for kids and make safer. We need to legalize!

I think pot and cigarettes are a more apt comparison that we are ignoring. I’m all for pot legalization but we are ignoring the health damage of smoking. I know parents who won’t smoke cigarettes in front of their kids and so it’s logical that they would not smoke pot either

@BrianLehrer Legal or not is not the issue. Alcohol is not "legal" under 21 but my children have access, as they do to drugs. Issue is helping instill a sense of self-respect, understanding how to navigate situations and avoid harm to themselves or others.
