Reading Their Names

The Brian Lehrer Show | Mar 15, 2021

Join us for a special on-air memorial for people in our area who have died from COVID-19. More than 400 WNYC listeners read the names of about 1,700 people -- just a small portion of the over 30,000 who have died during the pandemic.

The names were compiled by THE CITY's newsroom and its partners from the Columbia Journalism School, Boston College, the Craig Newmark School of Journalism at CUNY and volunteers, as part of their project MISSING THEM, an open data journalism project to document New Yorkers who have died due to COVID-19.
