Quantifying Terrorism's Turn to Guns

The Brian Lehrer Show | Jun 15, 2016

After the Orlando attack, a debate has again broken out about guns, gun laws, and how best to classify the attack.

Carl Bialik, FiveThirtyEight’s lead writer for news, discusses the relationship between guns and terrorist attacks in recent US history, saying that guns are on the rise as a terrorist's weapon of choice.

That could partly be a success of oversight, Bialik explained. It could be that law enforcement has successfully monitored bombs and explosive devices since September 11th and has foiled enough plots to deter terrorists from using explosives.
