“Puro Dolor,” by The Mariachi Ghost (Weekly Music Roundup)
The Mariachi Ghost is a Mexican-Canadian band from Winnipeg that takes the traditional sounds of mariachi music and blends them with elements of rock and electronic music. They are about to release their second album, called Puro Dolor, which means “pure sorrow.” The title track “Puro Dolor,” packs all of the drama and over the top emotion of a Mexican telenovela into a four-minute song. It may be “pure sorrow,” but it’s also brightly colored and fun to hear.
