Punderdome: Pun for the Whole Family

The Leonard Lopate Show | Jan 5, 2015

Father-daughter duo Fred Firestone and Jo Firestone lead us in a pun competition, and discuss their monthly SRO pun competition, Punderdome. Held every first Tuesday of the month at Littlefield in Brooklyn, the first Punderdome was in May, 2011. Their event this week (1/6/15) is their 48th. Co-hosted by Fred, a self-proclaimed “Rodney Dangerfield impersonator,” and Jo, his comedian daughter (alleged), the first 18 individuals/duos to sign-up at the door have a chance to participate in competitive spontaneous pun-making. Pun-masters are determined by the “human clap-o-meter” who “accurately and scientifically” assesses levels of audience applause.  Great big kitchen appliance mystery prizes are awarded to the top two competitors.

Think you've got what it takes to become a pun champion? Call us for a chance to pun on the air at 212-433-9692.
