Public Defenders Protesting ICE

The arrest of an undocumented Panamanian immigrant outside of a Brooklyn immigration court last week sparked protest among lawyers. Beth Fertig, WNYC senior reporter covering courts and legal affairs, and Tim Rountree, attorney-in-charge of Legal Aid’s Queens criminal defense practice, discuss why Legal Aid lawyers and public defenders are walking out of courthouses across the city.  An ICE agent calls in to give her side, saying the agents aren't setting the policy, it's coming from the top.
