The Presidential Candidates Are Using These Tunes as Campaign Songs

What does a song say about a candidate? Bernie Sanders plays the “Kill The Poor” by the Dead Kennedys at campaign events. Go to a Hillary Clinton rally and you’ll hear Demi Lovato's "Confident."
Democrats don't often run afoul of artists for using songs at rallies, but that’s not the case for Republicans.
Mitt Romney and Donald Trump don’t have much in common. Romney ran against President Obama in 2012 and portrayed himself as a more competent manager of finances and foreign policy. Trump, with his history of bankruptcies and over the top lifestyle, is running as a chaos candidate to upset the establishment. But they’ve both received cease and desist letters for using Survivor's "Eye of The Tiger" at campaign rallies.
Deciding on which music to use at public events can be tricky for any presidential candidate. They want to project an image of strength and confidence, but many musicians don't want to be associated with a particular politician, or their ideology.
Melissa Locker writes about music for Time magazine, Vanity Fair, and The Guardian. She discusses the songs the 2016 presidential candidates are using. Check out three songs that Clinton, Sanders, and Trump are using below, and click on the 'Listen' button above to hear the full list.
