Pity These Ashes: Tulsa 1921-2021
Sat., June 19. 7PM EDT.

Saturday, June 19, is Juneteenth, America’s oldest celebration of the end of slavery, and to mark the occasion the Harlem Chamber Players are doing a special live streaming Juneteenth concert event from the Greene Space, called Pity These Ashes: Tulsa 1921-2021. They’ll premiere a dramatic new work by Adolphus Hailstork written for the centennial of the Tulsa Massacre, as well as a mystical piece by Alice Coltrane, and a celebratory work for strings by Jessie Montgomery, her piece called "Starburst." Mezzo-Soprano J’nai Bridges, harpist Ashley Jackson and others all join the Harlem Chamber Players, in for the Juneteenth event hosted by WQXR's Terrance McKnight.
