Rorimer, Director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; and Dr. William Jansen, Superintendent of Schools, speak at the opening ceremonies for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibit "New York City School Builders, 1806-1956". Other speakers include Hon. Charles Bensley, member of the New York City Board of Education; Dr. John Theobald, Deputy Mayor; New York Governor Averell Harriman; and Cardinal Spellman. Mr. Theobald reads a proclamation of October as New York School history month.
