Now Open: Elementary School

The Brian Lehrer Show | May 14, 2015

When September rolls around it will be 80 kindergartners' first day of elementary school at the International Charter School in downtown Brooklyn. It will also be the school's first day of school.

In Community School District 13, overcrowding in elementary schools is a problem. Matthew Levey, founder and executive director of the ICS, discusses the challenges and realities of opening up a school for the first time, especially in a district where parents want more options.
