Online Orientation Kicks Off At New York City Public Schools

WNYC News | Sep 17, 2020

It’s a turbulent time for New York City’s public schools. Teachers are protesting in ways small and large, saying their buildings aren’t safe. A couple schools have had to temporarily close because of positive covid cases among staff. And all of this is happening as the system barrels towards the first full day of instruction on Monday. Meanwhile, in a kind of soft launch, a million-plus students are supposed to be logging on for orientation.

WNYC's education reporter Jessica Gould spoke to Morning Edition host David Furst.
