OMBIIGIZI – "Ziibi" (Weekly Music Roundup)

The First Nations Canadian duo known as OMBIIGIZI has just released its new single, “Ziibi,” the Anishinaabe word for “river.” The particular river they have in mind is the Red River, which flows through Manitoba, but the song more generally is about OMBIIGIZI’s own continuing fusion of art-rock with traditional Anishinaabe culture; so “Ziibi” becomes a tale about the power of nature, and people’s enduring (or not) connection to it. Their song, "Ziibi" or river, is part of our Weekly Music Roundup.
