Omar Sosa and Sekou Keita at Merkin Hall

Gig Alerts | Mar 8, 2019

Pianist Omar Sosa was born into the Afro-Cuban music tradition, but after years of living first in the Bay Area and now Barcelona, he’s absorbed the sounds of jazz, electronic music, ambient music, and the sounds of West Africa and East Asia. His collaboration with the Malian musician Sekou Keita, who plays the harp known as kora, is a beautiful, totally organic blend of Western piano, subtle electronics, and the rich sounds of traditional instruments from Asia and Africa. Omar Sosa & Sekou Keita play music from their "Transparent Water" project at Merkin Hall on Saturday  night, March 9.
